Unfolding technologies are certainly dictating how, businesses can and should be done today, writes Rupal RACH, while sharing more about idea-book.
The past few months since the 3rd Ideal Interiors Expo at the Village Market have been spent on creating the ‘perfect’ website. Being designers we don’t generally ‘prioritise’ websites, because we want people to physically see and feel our work.
Well, working in the interior design field makes the calls for face-to-face engagement. This is especially true when it come to the touch and feel of textures, drape, and tone of materials. Seemingly quite a number of interior designers do not believe a picture will truly capture the essence of our work or products.
Nonetheless, times are changing, technology is improving and we can finally begin to rely on websites to showcase our talents to the best of their ability.
The ‘perfect’ website to me is somewhere where my personal style of design is truly reflected. I am a perfectionist, I like balance, simplicity, strong imagery and few words. As a designer I believe that my work and my products need to be on show, not the entire history of curtains!
We love to see our people’s design ideas, favoritecolours and styles. To facilitate that, we’ve uploaded hundreds of images to a Flickr account and designed a special tool that will allow client’s to create their own gallery or “idea book” right here on our website. Client’s can also upload their own images to add to their idea book or share with us, and user profiles can be edited to include information about their project for us.
The beauty about the idea book tool is that you can right click and save the images onto your desktop so that images can be used for proposals or just an idea for future decoration!
Short taglines or descriptions can be added to the gallery created, this can either be a project proposal (if you’re an interior designer and you want to show this to a client) or a simple description for a home decorator.
The idea book in essence should help two kinds of people; interior decorators and home decorators. For both it’s a nice way to remember what fabrics and wallpapers you liked, and a reference to what can be used in the next project! Furthermore, the format is extremely professional making it the perfect presentation tool for clients!
Our flickr account has over 1000 images, therefore making it suitable for any project, any room and any style. Mix and matching of wallpapers and fabrics allows users to see even the smallest of colour differences, making your choice the perfect one!
The idea book will help many clients and designers who don’t really have the time to drive around looking for samples. With one click, it’s all theirs saved on their desktop for a lifetime! We believe this is a decorators dream – a personal swatch library!
